The Alex May Gallery is based in Bridlington’s Old Town High Street in the East Riding of
Yorkshire. Joy & Carlo Verda run the gallery. Carlo Verda has been designing & making Jewellery since leaving Central School of art & Design in 1986. Joy Verda left the Slade School of art in 1984 and will be resuming painting now that both children are at school (that's the theory anyway!) It is a working artist studio, selling a select range of original contemporary paintings, applied art & craftwork of artists and designers.
There will be up to 10 special exhibitions a year, showcasing the work of established and emerging artists. We hope to thrive on variety and change with monthly exhibitions ensuring there is always something different to see. The gallery specializes in showing original paintings with a diverse range of styles from figurative, landscape,
still life or abstract; and we are always happy for people to come and simply enjoy the art and learn about the artists.
The gallery is part of Bridlington old town’s renaissance and we hope it will play a part in allowing art to inspire and release artistic talent in the local community. Our purpose is to
promote creativity in the surrounding area with exploration and exchange of ideas between schools, local artists and nationally known artists & makers.
